Too Faced Melted Matte are All That

too_faced_melted_matte_lipsticks_queen_b_and_it's_happening

Ever since I had the opportunity to buy and ultimately fall in love with the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (I have Beso & Fiery), I have constantly been on the hunt for new colors to add to my collection (whether they be from Stila or in this case another brand, Too Faced)! When the Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipsticks launched, I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical. In my opinion, nothing could compare to the Stila counterparts. Boy was I wrong! These new Too Faced additions were absolutely amazing!

I am always looking for a great neutral, something that I can wear to work everyday and not cause too much a commotion with. And alternatively, after seeing Leyla Milani in a beautiful raspberry toned lipstick, I also wanted to find a shade similar to the one she was wearing. So, the two Melted Mattes I chose were “It’s Happening!” (a bright fuchsia pink) and “Queen B” (a beautiful mauve with a hint of purple).

                                                                                           Top: It’s Happening! // Bottom: Queen B

As expected, I have gravitated more towards the “Queen B” color, as it is very neutral and suitable for every day. However, I DO love both colors. In fact, I kind of wish I could wear “It’s Happening!” a lot more than I currently do. Unlike some reviewers, I did not find this product to be drying in the slightest; in my opinion, the Stila Liquid Lipsticks are more so. I felt that both shades went on very smoothly, were easy to apply, easy to correct should a little mistake occur, and were easy to reapply. Each lipstick had impressive lasting power. I always reapply after eating lunch though, because I feel like the oil in my favorite Greek salad, does cause some of the color to fade. The reapplication process is smooth, and does not feel uncomfortable in the slightest. In comparison, (and I can only offer a comparison to Stila) I typically do not like reapplying my Stila Liquid Lipsticks, especially after eating something with oil – they leave an odd feeling/film on the lips that I cannot seem to get past. The Too Faced Melted Mattes do not leave this feeling.

All in all, I LOVE this product! I wear “Queen B” pretty much every day, and do not find it to severely dry out my lips to the point that I could not wear it the following day. These lipsticks are longwearing, and are in my opinion, some of the best out there. I do recommend that you remove them with an oil-based makeup remover, as this not only provides added moisturization for your lips, but it also allows for a quick and effective removal process (I use this one)!

I would definitely buy these again, and recommend you to give them a try for yourself 🙂

Tell me! What are your favorite liquid lipsticks? Have you tried any from the Too Faced range?

Cruising through the Greenwich Concours D’Elegance & Totto Ramen

Hi Everyone – I hope you have all enjoyed your weekends! Our weekends are normally pretty busy, and this past one was no exception. However, I wouldn’t have it any other way! One of the many highlights of the past few days was attending the Greenwich Concours D’Elegance. Alex and I make it a tradition to attend this unique & truly impressive show, competition, and auction each year. This year’s showing though, had to be our favorite thus far!

In the beginning we were a bit hesitant in attending this year’s event because on Sunday, the tri-state was hit with a massive rain storm – downpour, flooding, you name it. It was definitely the most rain I’ve seen in a long time! Despite this, we figured that since we had already trekked it out to CT, we should continue according to plan; the worst that could happen is that we get soaked; and that’s not really too bad!

Since the weather was less than ideal, we got really lucky with the amount of people (or lack thereof) attending this year. There was so much more opportunity to enjoy the cars competing and on display. Not only that, but we were able to have some amazing, in depth conversations with the owners, dealership reps, etc. that made our time there even more memorable. We are both looking forward to continuing the tradition next year!

Take a look at some of my favorite cars from this year’s Concours!

How cute?!

The green MG on the right has the most amazing history! Came from the UK, and was originally a gift for a husband's girlfriend, and later wife. He worked on restoring it with her family and presented the car to her as a gift. The whole process was recorded with bloopers! I hope the owner will show the footage next year!
The green MG on the right has the most amazing history! It was produced in May of 1941, and ended up in Scotland during WWII. A few owners later, a man bought the car for his current girlfriend, and future wife. He worked on restoring it with her family and presented the car to her as a gift. The whole process was recorded with bloopers! The car eventually found a home with a great owner in the USA :)

After the Concours we headed into NYC to pick up Annabelle and her friends from their prom weekend getaway. But before we met up with them, we grabbed something quick to eat at Totto Ramen. I have heard about this place before, and have always wanted to check it out. Since we were in the area, we decided to stop by, and oh my God, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, they do not have materials for customers to take their food to go, so we had to gulf down our meals pretty quickly. But if I didn’t already need an excuse to go back, I have one now! If you are in the NYC area, I highly recommend checking them out!

Have you guys visited the Greenwich Concours D’Elegance before? What are some of your favorite cars? Also, if you have any food recommendations we should check out in NYC or within the tri-state area, please let me know in the comments!!

Adventuring in…Tampa, Florida!

waterfront_view_paradise

Travelling is something I love to do. Whether it be domestically, internationally, or even in your own backyard, the opportunity to explore different locales/customs/cultures, is something I never want to miss out on!

Just recently, Alex, Annabelle and I took a trip to Tampa, FL to visit family for a three-day mini vacation. Although, we have been to the area before, we were determined to visit some familiar faves, as well as explore some unknown territory.

On our first full day, we spent the morning, and the better part of the afternoon by the pool. After working 40+ hours per week in corporate, I can’t tell you how much I relished this sort of relaxation!

Later, we ventured off to Beach Bar and Restaurant off Causeway Bay for some dinner. Fun fact – this restaurant once went by the name of Hogan’s Beach, named after Tampa’s/Clearwater’s most famous resident, Hulk Hogan! Unfortunately, he and the restaurant are no longer affiliated; however, that did not deter us from giving in to our nostalgic demands. Most impressive though, is that this restaurant has THE most amazing views, especially when the sun is setting! I definitely want to come back, and take advantage of the jet ski rentals available further along the Bay!

Look at that Sunset!

The next day, we hit up The Florida Aquarium. I’ll be honest, the main draw for me here, was that they offered the ability to personally interact (play & pet) with the penguins (one of my most favorite animals)! I LOVED this bit. In addition to that though, the aquarium itself, was also very impressive. We spent a good portion of our day here, just engrossed with everything it had to offer.penguins_aquarium

No trip to Florida is complete, without an excursion to Disney World. On our third and final day, we set out bright and early on the 1.5 hour trip to Orlando. We spent most of our time, meeting characters (Mary Poppins!), going on the rides, and shopping for merch. As we visit Magic Kingdom quite frequently, we have been lucky enough to discover activities and events that are incredibly unique, and very off the beaten path. So keep an eye out for some Disney-related travel posts in the near future!

Nothing brings a family together, quite like a holiday! This Easter, my mom, brother, boyfriend and I, all got together to celebrate. We met at CJ McLoone’s in Tinton Falls for a Brunch buffet, where I surprisingly made it out with only one plate of food under my belt (which proved to be especially helpful during our photo session later on in the day – food baby anyone?!) For this occasion, I wanted to look simple, yet very put together/elegant. So I decided to go with the perfect little black dress (in my opinion), some over the knee boots, and a cardigan and coat to tie the whole look together.

P.S. I know this post has been in the editing room for quite some time now, however, I am extremely happy and proud to share it with you! I have additional photos on another camera that is unfortunately out of state at the moment; however, as soon as they’re available, I’ll make sure to add them to this blog post.

I’d love to hear how you spent your holiday, or any plans you have for upcoming ones! What did you wear to commemorate the occasion(s)?
